I was filling out a Google form with numerous tables last week. I encountered a broken captionless image in Chrome while filling out the form, and I could not submit the Google Form because the image was not loading.
I tried looking for a solution on Google, but finally I solved the issue after deep research. In this blog post, we’ll highlight three ways to fix the broken captionless image in Google Forms.
Table of Contents
1. Open in Google Incognito Mode
To fix a broken captionless image quickly and effectively, open the Google form in Incognito Mode on Google. Here’s How to open Incognito Mode in Google Chrome.

On Computer
- Open Chrome on your computer.
- At the top right, click three dots and then New Incognito Window.
- A new window appears. In the top corner.
- Copy the Google form link and paste it into the Incognito Mode in Google Chrome.
On Android/iPhone
- On your Android and iPhone or tablet, open the Chrome app Chrome.
- To the right of the address bar (in iPhone look at the bottom), tap three dots and then the New Incognito tab.
- A new window appears. In the top left, check for the Incognito icon Incognito.
- Copy the Google form link and paste it into the Incognito Mode in Google Chrome.
2. Disable the Google Chrome Extension
Try disabling all your Google Chrome extensions. Sometimes Chrome extension conflicts with the Google form, which results in broken captionless images. For uninstalling extension refer to this Uninstall apps or extensions guide.

Disable an extension
To temporarily stop using an extension:
1. Open Chrome, click three dots
2. Select More tools, then click on Extensions.
3. Turn off the extension you want to disable.
4. Then, Refresh the Google form Tab
3. Clear Chrome Cache
It becomes important to regularly clear the Chrome browser cache because it is the primary cause of all issues that arise in Google Chrome. Here’s how to do it.

On Computer
- Open Chrome on your computer.
- At the top right, click More.
- Click More tools, then Clear browsing data.
- At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.
- Check the boxes next to “Cookies and other site data” and “Cached images and files,”
- Click Clear data.
On Android/iPhone
- On your Android, iPhone or tablet, open the Chrome app.
- At the top right, tap More (in iPhone look at the bottom).
- Tap History, then clear browsing data.
- At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.
- check the boxes next to “Cookies and site data” and “Cached images and files,”
- Tap Clear data.
Note
Consider combining this approach with the one for disabling the extension (above). After turning off each Chrome extension, clear the cache on your browser.
Final Thoughts
The Google Form is one of the most useful tools in the Google Apps toolkit apart from Google Drive. It’s easy to use, and you can do many things with it. But it can also be a little buggy. If you’re having trouble with your Google Form, there are several things you can try to fix the issue and make it work right again.
