Since its introduction, the Mahindra Scorpio-N has gained immense popularity in the SUV market. Despite a lengthy waiting period of up to a year, prospective buyers are willing to go through the long waiting period due to their strong admiration for this remarkable SUV.
Soon, this could change as Mahindra might launch a Scorpio N with a mid-segment engine to attract more budget-oriented customers and compete with the upcoming new Hyundai Creta facelift 2024. Since its launch, the Scorpio N has undergone price revisions several times. It was once the SUV for everyone, but now it has become out of reach for buyers who want a proper SUV in a budget.
The New Scorpio N will get its power from the same engine as in Thar 4×2, the 1.5 CRDe turbo-diesel engine which produces 118hp and 300Nm. The Scorpio N Test Mule was also caught testing by Motorbeam viewer with ‘codename Z159’ where Z denotes to diesel engine and no. starting from P denotes Petrol engine.
In the Scorpio N test mule, you can see all the top features present in the SUV from alloy wheels, all wheel disc brakes to door request sensor.
Details are scarce at the moment, and there is no information available about whether Mahindra is also working on a turbo petrol engine. As if now, it seems only the diesel version will see the light of the day.
Regarding the price, it’s too early to provide an exact figure, but one thing is certain: it will not qualify for a lower tax rate, despite having a 1.5-liter engine like the Thar RWD, because it exceeds 4 meters in length. Therefore, its price could start from 10.99 lakhs ex-showroom.

There is no information on its launch date, but you can expect its launch in Q1, 2024. Mahindra might surprise us and launch it even before the Hyundai Creta 2024, similar to what they did with the Thar 4×2, which was unveiled before the Jimny at the 2023 auto expo.
