OnePlus uses OxygenOS on their Global Variant as they are clean, minimal while being feature-rich and lightweight OS. However, there’s another version of OxygenOS known as HydrogenOS epically made and used in China. Now it seems like the OnePlus HydrogenOS (China) is taking the last breath of his life.
As per the XDA report, OnePlus will discontinue HydrogenOS’s development in its home Country. The announcement on the official QQ group suggests that the official website for HydrogenOS will shut down on March 24. The OTA servers will close down on April 1. This will brings to the end of HydrogenOS for OnePlus devices in China.
Further, Reports also claimed, that Oppo’s improved ColorOS will take over HydrogenOS on OnePlus devices in China. However, OnePlus global variants will continue on OxygenOS only. As the key selling point for OnePlus globally is its OxygenOS.
Along with OnePlus devices switching over to Oppo’s ColorOS in the Chinese region, the OnePlus devices and products will also be sold via Oppo stores.
“We don’t have any updates about HydrogenOS to share at the moment, but we can confirm that OxygenOS remains our operating system for all global devices,” said an OnePlus spokesperson
Oppo has improved its software development a lot in the last few years. It also provides more customization features and a unified user experience.
OnePlus 9 Running ColorOS 11 Leaked
A Leaked live image shows the standard OnePlus 9 running on OPPO’s Color OS 11 instead of OxygenOS or HydrogenOS. The Leaked images shows that OnePlus 9 model is running on Android 11 out of the box.
Further, it also reveal the model comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. OnePlus could move older devices on HydrogenOS to ColorOS over the next few months.
As per the specification, the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro has been confirmed to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. Other features include a 6.7-inch QHD+ LTPO display with a smart 120Hz refresh rate.
The company has already confirmed a triple-camera setup of 48MP Sony IMX789 sensors and a 50MP wide-angle lens in the camera department.
Moreover, the OnePlus 9 will feature a 4500mAh battery compatible with 65W Wrap Charging technology for long operating hours.
The ColorOS 11 on OnePlus 9 will be available for China Region only while the Global Variants will still run on OxygenOS for India, Europe, US Region, etc. Oppo and OnePlus earlier this year merged their hardware and R&D teams under OPLUS.
Oppo is already popular in China and has Become a Numero Uno of the smartphone market does this step might help OnePlus tackle Oppo’s growing popularity in China.
